How fast can you fix my transmission?

Dealers are quoting weeks to months for transmission work, and at a general shop your transmission waits behind every tune-up and brake job. Here it is the only job. You get a diagnosis the same day, parts come direct from the manufacturer, and your transmission is built in Raleigh, not shipped in.

  1. 8:00

Drop off. Your truck or SUV goes straight onto the lift. No waiting behind brake jobs and oil changes, because the shop does not do them.

  2. 8:30

Diagnosed. You get a call with what failed and what it costs. Same day, every weekday.

  3. 9:00

Your decision. Approve by nine and the work starts. Parts come direct from the manufacturer, usually within 24 hours, and the valve body is built here, not back-ordered.

  4. Done

Built, installed, programmed, road-tested. In days, not the weeks or months dealers quote. In many cases, the same day.

Why one thing

Why does Same Day Transmission only build truck, SUV and van transmissions?

Most shops that replace a transmission install a unit built somewhere else, and at a dealer or a general shop your transmission waits behind the tune-ups and brake jobs that pay faster. Here your transmission is not competing with anything. Same Day Transmission builds its own, and only for trucks.

  • Every known weak point upgraded. Each model has parts that are known to fail. Those are upgraded on every build, so you get a stronger transmission than the one that came out.
  • Built here, not shipped in. Every unit is torn down, measured and assembled in the Raleigh shop, then tested on the bench before it goes in your truck.
  • Every seal, every time. Full factory gasket and seal kits, including the internal seals most shops look at and reuse.
  • A new torque converter on every build. Not the old one cleaned up.
  • Valve bodies built and tested in-house. Each one checked on a vacuum test machine. In 2025, GM truck owners waited six weeks to seven months on a dealer backorder for this one part. Here it is built in the shop.
  • Worn parts go in the trash. Including the front pump and the clutches other shops would put back in because they still work today.
  • Programming in-house. The truck leaves shifting right, not with a note to visit the dealer.

Built once. Not rebuilt.

A rebuilt transmission is a bandaid: someone replaces the part that broke and gets it working again. A built transmission is remanufactured to a system: torn down completely, every seal and wear part replaced, every known weak point upgraded, measured and tested before it goes in. A rebuild gets your truck running. A build keeps it running.

Straight answers

Questions people ask before they call

How fast can you fix my transmission?

Drop your truck off by 8 on a weekday and you get a diagnosis and a decision the same day, every time. Same Day Transmission buys parts direct from the manufacturer, usually within 24 hours, and builds its own valve bodies, so the work takes days, not the weeks or months dealers quote. In many cases the truck goes home the same day.

Which vehicles does Same Day Transmission work on?

Same Day Transmission works on Ford, GM (Chevrolet and GMC) and Ram trucks, SUVs and vans, gas and diesel, from work trucks to the family SUV. That includes the Ford 10R80, 10R140 and 6R140, the Allison 1000 and 10L1000, the GM 6L80 and 6L90, the Ram 68RFE and the Ram ProMaster van. The shop does not do general repair, so your transmission never waits behind other work.

What is the difference between a rebuilt and a remanufactured transmission?

A rebuilt transmission is a bandaid: the part that broke gets replaced and the unit goes back in. A remanufactured transmission is built to a system: torn down completely, every seal and wear part replaced, every known weak point upgraded, a new torque converter, the valve body tested, and the whole unit measured and tested before it goes in.

Why not buy a cheaper rebuilt transmission?

You can find a rebuilt 10-speed online for under $3,000. Most of them were made to get a truck running again: the part that broke is replaced and the rest goes back in, so it fails again. A built transmission is torn down completely, every seal and wear part is replaced, the torque converter is new and the valve body is tested, so it is built one time. A rebuild gets your truck running. A build keeps it running.

Why does a new transmission have to be programmed?

Late-model truck transmissions are controlled by a computer that has to be matched to the truck. After installation the control module is programmed and the transmission relearns its shift points. Same Day Transmission does that programming in-house as part of every installation.

What if I don't see my transmission listed?

Call and ask. You will talk to the person who builds the transmissions, and you will get a straight answer about whether he builds your unit, how long it will take, or whether another shop is the better call.
