GM 6L80 and 6L90 transmissions

Lifetime warranty. Upfront pricing. No surprises.

The 6L80 and its heavy-duty sibling the 6L90 are in a huge number of GM trucks, SUVs and work vans. They are good transmissions with a few well-known failure points, and most of them can be fixed for good.

Drop-off: 8451 Garvey Dr, Suite 104, Raleigh, NC 27616

Which vehicles have a 6L80 / 6L90?

  • Silverado and Sierra 1500, Tahoe, Suburban and Yukon (6L80)
  • Silverado and Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD gas trucks (6L90)
  • Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana work vans (6L80 and 6L90)

Signs your 6L80 / 6L90 is failing

  • Losing third, fifth or reverse
  • Torque converter shudder
  • Harsh or delayed shifts
  • Slipping
  • A transmission warning or limp mode

Losing third, fifth and reverse together usually points to one clutch pack. Henry fixes the cause, not just the clutch.

Built once. Not rebuilt.

How Henry builds a 6L80 / 6L90

  • Every known weak point upgraded. Each model has parts that are known to fail. They are upgraded on every build, for a stronger transmission than the one that came out.
  • Torn down completely. Every unit comes apart on the bench, gets cleaned inside and out, and every part is measured.
  • Every seal, every time. A full factory gasket and seal kit, including the internal seals most shops look at and reuse.
  • A new torque converter. On every build. Not the old one cleaned up.
  • Valve body built and tested here. Checked on a vacuum test machine so every valve moves the way it should.
  • Worn parts go in the trash. Clutches that are starting to darken, a front pump that "still works", hard parts with wear. They do not go back in.
  • Tested before it goes in. The finished unit is measured and tested on the bench, then installed, programmed and road-tested.

"When I build one, I only want to build it one time." Henry Tilton. Covered by our lifetime warranty.
